Job Description

Nevada State College (NSC) invites applications for the position of School Based Mental Health (SBMH) Grant Director at Nevada State College

The Grant Director will work with campus, school district, state and national partners to design, coordinate and implement necessary coursework, field experiences and approvals for creating a strong network of school professionals, specifically school psychologists, to support the mental health needs of PK-12 students in the State of Nevada. The Grant Director will be a key person in the development and establishment of a school psychology career pathway to engage high school students and bachelor's degree-seeking candidates to continue their educational preparation by choosing a master's degree in school psychology to be developed at Nevada State College. The Grant Director must be able to navigate all aspects of a school psychology program from expectations in PK-12 school districts to licensure and accreditation. Knowledge of grant requirements at the state and national level to successfully meet the goals of producing an increased number of school based mental health professionals over the next five years will be critical.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Oversee, facilitate and coordinate implementation of all project components; direct report to Nevada State College School of Education Dean.
  • Manage grant budget.
  • Supervise Project staff.
  • Ensure project goal achievement and compliance with federal, state and institutional rules.
  • Work with external evaluator as necessary to generate and use accurate data to improve operations, facilitate data-based decision-making, guide the replication and scaling of project activities.
  • Communicate progress with the grants program officer and other offices on campus and with school districts (e.g. CCSD) and State.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of all Nevada State College and state reporting.
  • Coordinate with school district counselors, school psychologists and Nevada State campus advisors.
  • Serve as liaison between School of Education and faculty in departments housing content area courses.
  • Research, design and support the necessary NASP requirements for school psychology and master's program approval.
  • Assist with faculty development.
  • Assist with curriculum development.
  • Other relevant project activities including development of marketing materials, recruitment events, dissemination of project information at conferences


Required Qualifications:
  • Doctorate (Ed.D or Ph.D.) in School Psychology, Educational Leadership or similar.
  • A minimum of five years working in PK-12 schools as school psychologist and/or administrative experience as a school psychologist in a school setting.
  • Knowledge of NASP standards, accreditation and school psychology license requirements in Nevada.
  • Experience teaching in higher education.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (NSC does not sponsor employment-related visas)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Supervisory and leadership experience; mentoring interns in school psychology.
  • Experience with hiring, grant management or project management.
  • Experience with community outreach and coalition building.
  • Expertise in survey design, assessment, statistical analysis, program evaluation.
  • Experience serving at-risk and under-represented student populations.
  • Bilingual.


Salary & Benefits

Budgeted salary range for this position is $67,000. Nevada State College offers excellent benefits, including 15.50% retirement match, 24 annual leave days, beginning balance of 30 sick leave days, 11 paid holidays, educational benefits, and the choice of three health insurance plans that can be supplemented with flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts.
